Baselworld has emailed its global database with a video showing the highlights of this year’s exhibition in 60 seconds. If there was an overall theme at this year’s show, it was “evolution, not revolution,” and most watchmakers focused on making their existing offerings better by refining designs, updating movements, adding new dial options and downsizing cases. These are all things watch enthusiasts have been clamoring for, so having watchmakers take note — and in many cases take direct advice from enthusiasts and collectors — means that in the end, we all win big time. The video promotion reminds people that the core of the exhibition remains unchanged, with the main hall housing all of the major watch industry players as in previous years, and the appearance of massive global celebrities bringing star power to the event. The world’s media and retail buyers also feature prominently in the video. Baselworld says that all of the biggest Hall 1 exhibitors — including Rolex, Patek Philippe, LVMH, Swatch Group and Breitling — have signed on for the 2019 event.
