Rolex Submariner 5513 ‘Metres First’ 1967 Collector’s Watch

We are pleased to offer this extremely rare and collectible Rolex Submariner 5513 from 1967. This particular watch is accompanied by the original Rolex box, swing tag, booklets, servicing paperwork from 1982 and 2011, along with the official Rolex stamped warranty papers dated April 1967.

The watch retains the hallmark vintage Submariner proportions and features of the late 1960s, including the absence of a date window, tritium lume plots with a warm custard patina, and the early bi-directional bezel that was later replaced by the unidirectional style in 1985.

While the watch retains its vintage charm, the dial has been refinished in the style of the original gilt-gloss “Metres First” dial — a common occurrence for Submariners of this era due to the ageing and deterioration of tritium dials over time. The work has been completed to a high standard, preserving the period-correct aesthetic and ensuring excellent legibility, allowing the piece to be enjoyed as both a functional timekeeper and a striking vintage display watch.

One notable change is the bracelet, which has been replaced during an official Rolex service with the later equivalent 78360 11-link bracelet with the “M2” code. While purists may prefer full originality, the replacement does little to diminish the historical and aesthetic value of the watch itself.

This watch has recently undergone a comprehensive service carried out by our British Horological Institute–accredited watchmaker.
