Our curated collection includes the world’s most prestigious brands such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet, with each watch chosen for its authenticity, provenance and excellence.
What began as a love for horology has grown into a business defined by trust, expertise and security. When a watch arrives with us, we first ensure it has a completely clear background. Each piece is checked against The Watch Register, a national database used by police forces and insurance companies to identify lost, stolen or fraudulent watches. Any watch that fails this check is refused immediately and reported if necessary. This guarantees that every watch we handle has a verified and legitimate history.
Next, our team carries out a full review of the watch and its accompanying materials, including the original box, warranty card and papers. We only ever accept watches that come with their original box and papers, as these items are vital in confirming authenticity and provenance. Our specialists can often detect inconsistencies in replica or altered packaging before even inspecting the watch itself. If anything appears non-original or suspicious, the watch is refused. We have never sold a replica watch and never will.
Once the documentation passes review, we move on to a detailed inspection of the watch itself. Every component is examined under professional lighting and magnification to assess the overall finish, precision and condition. Particular attention is paid to the bracelet and clasp, lugs, case, bezel, crystal, dial, hands, engravings and rehaut, as well as other visible features that demonstrate the quality and craftsmanship of the piece.
When appropriate for the model, we carefully open the caseback using our specialist tools to inspect the movement in detail. This allows us to verify the calibre, balance wheel, hairspring, finishing, screws, bridges and manufacturer engravings, ensuring that the internal mechanisms are both genuine and in correct order. Any inconsistencies in the movement, such as mismatched components or signs of tampering, immediately disqualify the watch from being accepted. Our experience handling tens of thousands of watches allows us to identify even the smallest deviations from factory standards.
Every watch is then tested on our timegraph machine to check timekeeping accuracy, amplitude and beat error. This ensures the movement performs exactly as it should, with no irregularities suggesting internal faults or tampering. If a watch fails to meet our standards of performance, it is either refused or, if it is fully authentic but simply not running within tolerance, it undergoes a comprehensive service by our British Horological Institute Accredited Watchmaker. This guarantees that every timepiece we offer functions perfectly and upholds the standard expected of a fine mechanical watch.
Our team draws on decades of combined experience and a vast reference library built from tens of thousands of verified watches. This expertise allows us to confirm authenticity with confidence and accuracy, while quickly identifying any inconsistencies or modifications. Any watch found to contain replica or non-original components is immediately refused.
Each verified watch is then recorded, photographed and approved before being offered for sale or consignment. Only watches that meet our criteria for authenticity, originality and performance make it to our collection.
We have never sold a replica watch. Every piece we handle is independently authenticated by experienced professionals who specialise in genuine luxury timepieces. We only accept watches with their original box and papers, and our process combines careful manual inspection, movement verification, performance testing, database checks and expert knowledge. This ensures complete confidence and transparency for every client.
Do you open every watch?
Where safe and appropriate, yes. If opening a particular model is not advisable, we use alternative methods to verify authenticity and make this clear to the client.
Do you accept watches without box and papers?
No. We only accept watches that include their original box and papers.
Can you guarantee originality of every part?
We verify each watch to the highest professional standards. If any non-original or replacement parts are found, the watch is refused immediately.
What if my watch fails the checks?
We’ll explain the reason clearly and advise on the next steps. If a watch is authentic but not performing to standard, it will receive a full service from our British Horological Institute Accredited Watchmaker.

Does every watch come with the original purchase receipt?
Some watches do arrive with the original purchase receipt, but this is not a requirement for our inspection and authentication process. Many clients prefer to retain their original purchase receipt for personal reasons, most commonly to maintain their relationship with the Authorised Dealer. It is quite common for watches to be sold without the original purchase receipt, and this does not affect the value, authenticity, or status of a watch as a full set. The receipt is generally a record of card payment, whereas the crucial item is the watch papers or warranty card, which cannot be replaced and is uniquely linked to the watch through its serial number.
All of our watches fall under one of three Condition Classifications: Unworn, Mint Condition, or Excellent Condition.
Unworn:
An Unworn watch is, for all intents and purposes, brand new. It remains in pristine condition, untouched by daily wear except perhaps for a brief try-on in a Rolex boutique. These timepieces have been stored in their original boxes since purchase. We are able to guarantee an Unworn classification through detailed inspection of the case, bracelet, clasp and overall condition, confirming that the watch shows no signs of wear or handling. Most Unworn watches are recent models and are still covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Occasionally, we see older pieces that still meet the same uncompromised standard.
Mint Condition:
A Mint Condition watch has been worn but retains an immaculate appearance. Before sale, our Servicing Team may carry out a light polish to ensure the piece is free from visible marks or surface scratches. The result is a timepiece that feels as fresh as it looks. We verify Mint Condition watches through a meticulous inspection to confirm only minimal handling and no visible signs of wear. At SwissTimepieces, we understand the importance of originality for collectors. Our team can service and restore vintage watches in line with collector preferences, preserving their character and history.
Excellent Condition:
Watches graded as Excellent Condition may show a few subtle signs of wear such as light scratches or small dings. Each Excellent Condition watch is carefully verified to ensure that any light wear remains consistent with careful use and that all components retain their integrity and finish. In some cases, these details are intentionally preserved to maintain the watch’s originality and character. Vintage pieces are often classified as Excellent Condition, as we prefer not to carry out any polishing on these watches in order to retain their authenticity and heritage.
We do not offer any watches below Excellent Condition. Every piece we sell meets our rigorous standards for quality, authenticity, and presentation. We do not sell any watches that we would not be comfortable purchasing ourselves. Our team is extremely particular, and our condition grading is strict to ensure complete confidence for every client.
